    Who’s Your Favourite Fairy?

Shiver me timbers, another year gone and our little gal’s evolving from a princess to a Tinkerbell. That may not seem like much of a stretch, but of all the fairies she’s chosen to align herself with, Tink is by far the feistiest of the bunch. And seeing as our Alice doesn’t fall far from that tree, it came as no surprise when she decided this year would be a Tinkerbell and Friends Birthday party.

As I mentioned last year at her 3rd birthday party, Alice has quite the imagination. So when it came to crafting ideas for this year’s party, she delivers the goods again. The main attraction this year will be…rescuing Peter Pan from the clutches of Captain Hook. (mic drop…walks away). Over to you now Dad, I’ve done my part.

    Terrific. Challenge accepted.

    The Main Event

Each year we do party games, we like to have one major set-piece. This year was the perfect opportunity to revive an old favourite game of ours, the lava walk, and give it a Neverland twist. Instead of red plastic tablecloths gaffered together as lava, we went with green cloths for water. We added pavers for stepping stones and had the adults billow the sides to make waves as the fairies crossed. I made a prison door out of painted cardboard boxes and plastic beach-cricket stumps for the bars. One-by-one, the fairies made their way across the river-walk, unlocked the door to free Peter Pan (Indy dressed up), and escape past me as Captain Hook. It was a lot of fun for everyone all round.

    Tinkerbell’s Party Games

In keeping with the Tinkerbell theme, our other party games all had an air of enchantment around them. Making fairy wands, decorating crowns, a fairy gem treasure hunt and a fairy egg fossil surprise. We did our own fairy face-painting under our fairy tree which was set in the backyard alongside our actual fairy garden we made last year.

It was a truly magical day and surprising to me just how engaged little girls can be with their activities. Thank you to all the little fairies who attended to make Alice’s 4th birthday, a magical spellbinding day for our little Tinkerbell.
