ONE SLEEP TO GO

Only one sleep to go until…

    40YrOldDad Version 2.0

    Our final day of ‘treesome’.

Wow, can it really be true? I feel like we’ve both been so busy; Mumma with work and me with going back to Uni, that the time has suddenly crept up behind us and before we knew it, we’re staring right down the barrel of baby #2 about to enter our lives. It seems crazy. Are we crazy? I think we are (or at the very least, a teensy bit delirious).

And the fact that I’ve been a dad for 2 and a half years now should give me a quiet sense of confidence, but the truth is, washing little girls clothes in the washing machine freaked me out a bit. And when we were shopping in Target, we strolled past the girl section where Mumma kindly pointed out the little bras and knickers hanging on the racks, and indicated that’s something we’ll have to get used to one day.

    Holy crap!

Never-ever-ever in my whole thought process of being a new dad to a little girl did the thought ever cross my mind that one day we’d have to go bra shopping!

What-da-f#*k, Mumma? You’re weirding me out!

But what’s really totally weird is that Indy seems to have quite a grasp on what’s going on. He’s become quite clingy to ‘Mumma-bubba’ (as she is now known), and has taken to looking after his doll like it’s a baby. He tells us he’s going to help when the baby comes and that he will ‘cuggle’ the baby once she’s out and is very quick to jump into a spontaneous imitation ‘baby cry’, upon request.

Hopefully, things will continue as smoothly for him once she actually arrives and comes home to live with us…every day. Hopefully, his interest in the baby will fare much better than his interest in peas or listening to Mumma, but not quite as high as his obsession with Lightning McQueen or his hand in his nappy. A quiet medium around the level of Octonauts would suffice.

So we’re now busy nesting and cleaning in preparation for tomorrow’s big day, and what easier way to remember our daughter’s birthday, than to be born on ‘Remembrance day’.

Something I’m sure I will never-ever-ever forget…especially when training bra day arrives!

    Wish us luck!

Good Luck guys when I had Zoe I brought a present from her to Gabriel to help soften the change in his life. As they’ve gotten older they have become closer. Enjoy the euphoria of tomorrow I’m sure that she will be just as precious as Indy is.

Somebody had mentioned that approach to us also and we’ve got Indy a couple little gifts from the baby to him to help soften the change to his life, as you said. So glad to hear it worked out for you, Kellie. And lovely to hear how much closer they became as they got older. It’s very much a relief to hear that from another parent. Thanks, Kellie.
