HOW TO MAKE THAT MOZZIE BEGONE!

What could possibly be worse than the sound of a mozzie buzzing your ear in bed in the darkness? — NOTHING…nothing could be worse than that. (With the possible exception of TWO MOZZIES or…Brynne Edelsten and Jeanne Little auditioning for The Voice).

No bug is as smack-worthy nor brings a cringe to your spine quicker than a run in with this ravenous vampiric blood-sucking insect, but enough of Tony Abbott, I’m talking about the dreaded…mozzie.

I remember a time in Bali we were eating at a restaurant and our legs were aggressively set upon under the table by mozzies. Like Bruce Lee fending off an onslaught of Ninjas, our hands were a blur as we slapped our arms and legs more often than a German at Oktoberfest. I ran a kilometre or so to find a store that stocked a can of mozzie spray, then sweatily ran back so we could finish our dinner without leaping and banging our knees under the table every ten seconds.

And now that we have our own mini-adventurer, there’s a whole host of concerns to worry about when it comes to mozzie protection. First of all, we don’t want to spray or rub in chemicals that could be doing who-knows-what to his precious skin. Using it on ourselves is just as worrying. We need to be mindful that we have it on our hands, especially since we use them to dig foreign objects out of his mouth or wipe his snotty nose. And lit mozzie coils on the ground could be a red beacon in the darkness to little fingers and an inquiring mind.

That’s when a little godsend flew into my Inbox, (that’s what Mumma said when I got her pregnant again). 😉 Introducing Europe’s number one mosquito protection device…

    Para’Kito

An awesome new product that is exactly what the doctor (or mosquito net), ordered.

Para’Kito recently landed in Australia (pardon the pun), and offers a truly revolutionary, completely natural approach to mozzie and insect protection like you’ve never seen before!

Para’Kito blends a combination of seven dwarves, I mean, natural essential oils including lavender, geranium, citronella, pine tree, patchouli, clove and peppermint into a polymer pellet that easily slips into a Para’Kito wristband or clip, rendering you invisible to mozzies and insects 24hrs a day for 15 days straight – even if you get it wet!

It doesn’t touch your skin, so they’re perfect for nursing mums, pregnant women, allergy sufferers and children of all ages. There’s no horrible odour or aftertaste often associated with aerosol sprays and best of all, no need to reapply anything…for 15 days! And if it works that well for mozzies and insects, imagine how well it will work against Tony Abbott? And as a Dad, I can relax and enjoy the BBQ without hovering over my boy, brandishing a slightly worn flip-flop against incoming invaders.

But why take my word for it when you can try it out yourself? That’s right, I’m giving away ONE FREE Para’Kito Wrist Band with two refill pellets. That’s an entire 30 day mozzie-free protection, just for sharing your most cringe-worthy bug or insect story in the comments below. The story deemed most cringe-worthy will be the lucky winner.

While you’re here, why not buzz on over to Para’Kito on Facebook for further info and updates. Para’Kito is now available at major Australian airports, leading pharmacies and sporting stores or online at the Para’Kito Website.

Just saw these bracelets at the chemist and came home to look them up, and your post popped up! Quite a nice blog you have here, very impressive!
So, I’m wondering…did you test them out? Were they effective? I have twins who, when bit, swell up fast and scary and often get an infection! I’ve been to the GP and there isn’t much they can do, aside from slathering the boys up in some chemical laden product with DEET.
    Ack! No way!
I found a fantastic Essential Oil through doTERRA that I like, but would like something longer lasting for our upcoming holiday through national parks and coral reefs.
Any further input appreciated! Thanks again for the post!

Hi Carrie Ann, we’re testing them out this summer. Naturally, when we got them it was winter so no mozzies about but I did notice a few getting around lately. What I like about them is that they don’t come in contact with the skin. The pellet sits inside the wristband or the keychain thingy (whichever one you got), so there’s minimal risk of skin irritation from what I can tell. Will keep you updated on their effectiveness.
